Calling Young Travel Professionals, Millennials in Travel Debuts with Los Angeles Launch Event Today

Millennials in Travel has officially launched as a career development and networking organization for young professionals in the travel industry. As a national organization, Millennials in Travel will provide networking opportunities within a relaxed atmosphere; encourage young professionals to join the travel industry; offer a job opportunity forum to its members; and provide mentoring for new professionals within the industry.

“The millennial generation communicates differently, markets differently and conducts business differently, so with this surge of younger professionals in the travel industry, there is a growing need for an organization to help foster our development. Millennials in Travel will be just that,” Joshua Smith, Director of Strategic
Development said.

Unlike other organizations, members must be of the millennial generation and currently working for or pursuing a career with a travel agency, tour operator, cruise line, hotel, tourism board, consortium, airline, travel publication, travel marketing or travel representation company. Additionally, members must be passionate and committed to the travel industry, act professionally in both social and work environments, have a strong belief in the potential of the travel industry and drive tourism on a global level.

Carolyn Pope, Director of Membership elaborated, “Millennials in Travel provides a forum for young professionals in the travel industry to learn about the different aspects and positions and focus on career growth at an individual level as well as at an industry level. We are committed to this industry and while we have much to learn from our peers and colleagues, the bonds we are creating now will allow for a more dynamic and innovative industry in the future.”

The Millennials in Travel launch event will be hosted by Shutters on the Beach on February 21, 2013 at 6 p.m. “Shutters on the Beach has graciously offered to host our first event with passed hors d’oeurves and drinks with complimentary valet parking. We are extremely thankful to officially launch at one of the most luxurious
