A couple of years ago an article in GQ Magazine called Placencia Village “a quaint town that seems to have forgotten about mass tourism.” And now this little village is the base for a beautiful combination marathon and Belize vacation.
Mr. Synescio Coh, General Manager of the Chabil Mar Resort in Placencia, provides the details for this wonderful event.
“Placencia Village and the Peninsula provide an incredibly scenic setting for an event such as this,” says Mr. Coh, “with views of the lagoon and Maya mountains to the west and the brilliant blue waters of the Caribbean to the east, the entire length of the course.”
“The 26.2 mile marathon course begins at the football/soccer field at the bottom of the peninsula, goes through Placencia Village, past Chabil Mar, Seine Bight Village, and Maya Beach, with multiple views of the Caribbean Sea and the mountains along the way. The course then loops back a few miles south of Riversdale. The 13.1 mile half marathon course begins at the marathon turnaround and both races finish in Placencia Village.”
“While in Belize, why not follow your achievements by vacationing in a premier adventure vacation destination like Placencia?”, asks Mr. Coh.
