The “1621” Restaurant of the Sofitel Legend Santa Clara Cartagena is receiving for the first time the nomination for “Best of the Best Awards 2013” in the category of “Best gastronomic Experience” given by the Virtuoso network of luxury hotels, being the only nominee in Colombia and Latin America.
For this category, the “1621” is in competition with the world’s best restaurants in Hong Kong, Rome, St. Tropez and Paris. This category recognizes the excellence in the gastronomic offer, combined with a broad selection of wines, and superbness in the service and atmosphere of the place.
The “Best of the Best Awards 2013” reached its seventh edition and is held by the Virtuoso network of luxury hotels that each year recognizes the excellence in the qualities associated to its luxury network. Prizes will be awarded in August in Las Vegas as part of the Virtuoso Travel Week.
The “1621” Restaurant is located On Curato Street, next-door neighboring to the house of the Colombian Nobel Prize winner Gabriel García Márquez, the “1621” Restaurant, is celebrating in 2013, the second anniversary of its opening.
During these two years, the “1621” restaurant cuisine has shown a different gourmet offer, outside traditional schemes, valuing local products with the French “savoir-faire”.
Its cuisine is characterized by innovative elements and unique creations that allow it to further refine the concept of French cuisine mixed with local ingredients. According to the Executive Chef Isabelle Alexandre “the new “1621” menu offers lighter dishes with different flavors and colors, trying to mix my French roots with the great selection and variety of local products.”
According to Christophe Tessier the Restaurant Manager each element present in the “1621” Restaurant, seduces its guests every night that they are enveloped in a space that combines history and modernity in one place. A design that continues to surprise by the excellent and careful preparation in each of its details.
