Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority (TCA Abu Dhabi) was awarded Platinum for ‘Best Tourism Authority’ at the 2014 Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Awards. Held at the Conrad Dubai hotel last month, the regional awards were also celebrating their 10th anniversary.

H.E. Mohamed Al Khamis, Managing Director of the UAE National Council of Tourism & Antiquities, presented the award to TCA Abu Dhabi’s Director of Promotions and Overseas Offices, Mubarak Al Nuaimi.

“We’re thrilled to receive this recognition of the quality of services we provide to our varied stakeholder base and visitors in marketing our destination, conserving and promoting our heritage and culture and leveraging them in developing a world-class, sustainable destination of distinction,” said TCA’s Mubarak Al Nuaimi.

Key determining factors in TCA Abu Dhabi achieving the award were: beating its 2013 hotel guest targets by 18 percent; creating the Abu Dhabi Convention Bureau to support the growth of conventions and exhibitions within the emirate; expansion of its successful trade engagement program ‘Access Abu Dhabi’ with the national carrier Etihad Airways to five new markets; having its annual fine food festival ‘Gourmet Abu Dhabi’ billed as one of the world’s best gourmet events by the Sydney Morning Herald metro-newspaper; and its ground-breaking digital communications initiatives, introducing a new consumer iPhone app and a stakeholder focused corporate website, and launching its consumer website in Brazilian Portuguese.
