The Savuti Marsh is the relic of a large inland lake, now fed by the erratic Savuti Channel, which dries up for long periods then curiously flows again. The region is also covered with extensive savannahs and rolling grasslands, which makes wildlife particularly dynamic in this section of the park as well as a picturesque, diverse landscape with lush grasslands and desert-like, bleak stretches of land dotted with camelthorn trees in other areas.

It is often said that the Savuti grasslands provide the best game viewing in Africa today, with one of the highest concentrations of wildlife on the continent, through all seasons. Elephants congregating around waterholes, amazing varieties of birds, endangered wild dog, zebra, wildebeest, sable, eland, giraffe and buffalo are just a few others of the many species you’re likely to see while here.
