European Waterways have released their 2012 brochure, featuring a fleet of 20 fully-crewed hotel barges cruising along the canals, rivers and lagoons of France and eight other European countries. The latest addition to the fleet for 2012 is ‘Panache’, a 12 passenger luxury hotel barge that will be cruising the beautiful Canal de la Marne au Rhin in Alsace Lorraine between June and October. This is a region with a unique mix of French and German cultures, Baroque and Romanesque architecture, storybook hamlets and wonderful white wines.

‘Panache’ is a beautifully-appointed hotel barge with spacious public areas and 6 double/twin en-suite cabins, each bathroom having twin sinks and oversize showers with massage jets. There are large panoramic windows in the saloon for viewing the passing countryside and the barge has been fitted out in traditional yacht style with brass and mahogany fittings. A large sundeck and spa pool complete the picture.

European Waterways are also launching their ‘Barging and Biking’ options for 2012 to satisfy so many passengers who enjoy taking some exercise during their barge cruise – especially after indulging in the gourmet meals served on board – all of the hotel barges carry bicycles. Available now are ‘Biking Plus’, when maps will be provided so the more adventurous guests can explore the surrounding countryside along the canal route; Tandem Biking along the towpaths – perfect for energetic romantics; Biking Charters for more committed cyclists, with half-day guided itineraries.

European Waterways provide high quality cruises on its ‘floating hotels’ along the beautiful inland waterways of
France to a discerning clientele wishing to enjoy wonderful scenery, fascinating history, local culture, fine cuisine
and wines. From picturesque Burgundy to the sun-drenched Midi; from the magical Loire Valley to the undulating
scenery of Alsace Lorraine – every voyage is a truly memorable experience.

The fully-crewed luxury vessels accommodate between 4 and 20 passengers and clients can choose to charter a whole boat with family and friends, or join a small group of like-minded travellers on an individual cabin basis. The average crew ratio is one crew member for every two passengers and includes Captain, Chef, Tour Guide and Hostess(es), ensuring a very high level of service.

Each 6-night cruise includes all meals, selected château and domaine wines, an open bar, daily escorted excursions, local transfers and the use of all barge facilities such as bicycles and spa pools. Also on offer is a wide range of themed cruises, combining other activities such as golf, walking and wine appreciation.

Prices for a 6 night cruise start from $3,590pp in a twin/double cabin and from $22,600 for a full boat charter.
