Portugal was chosen by Condé Nast Traveller as the best destination in the world to travel. Landscape, cuisine and beaches were the aspects that most weighed in jury selection, which still gives particular emphasis to the friendliness of the Portuguese people.

“It is a key ingredient,” the magazine writes. “The Portuguese seduce us with its charm and friendliness.”

Next year the country will play host to the 5th World Food Tourism Summit. The Summit is intended to gather food and beverage professionals, travel and hospitality organizations, trade groups, associations, governments and other specialists. The show will feature a new format, with more business to business matchmaking and networking, sales and marketing support for food tourism businesses and destinations and quality social events.

The topics range from gastronomy destinations, new food tourism icons, creative tourism and gastronomy experiences to policies for gastronomy heritage and public-private partnerships for gastronomy tourism promotion.

The event will take place in Estoril, Lisbon, Portugal, April 6-11, 2015
