Saint Lucia will be celebrating Chocolate Heritage Month this August, to recognize the island’s long, rich heritage in producing some of the world’s most sought-after chocolate. With a number of on-island experiences, the month-long festivities will delve into Saint Lucia’s cocoa roots, offering visitors unbeatable island-wide promotions for plenty of chocolatey fun.

Chocolate fans visiting can enjoy Saint Lucia’s cocoa culture with plantation tour to see how chocolate is made from scratch. The island also has a burgeoning food scene which includes chocolate infused gourmet meals and cocktails to traditional creole cuisine, plus those who really want to indulge can try an exclusive chocolate-inspired spa treatment at one of the resorts.

Saint Lucia’s chocolate legacy dates back to the thriving cocoa industry of the 1700’s. The island’s chocolate making process has hardly changed since the original chocolate boom, solidifying Saint Lucia’s reputation as a top quality cocoa producer.

Atlyn Forde, Assistant Director of Marketing UK and Europe at the Saint Lucia Tourist Board commented: “Chocolate Heritage Month recognizes the role cocoa and its beloved byproduct chocolate has played in its history. Visitors will have the opportunity to learn the process of making chocolate, from bean to bar and also the wellness benefits attributed to it.”
