Experience Malta’s exciting and vibrant gastronomical scene in the United States Tour Operators Association’s (USTOA) new video series Global Kitchen. This culinary initiative brings a taste of diverse worldwide destinations to major streaming platforms. The Global Kitchen episodes are accompanied by a digital cookbook.
The Malta feature, released July 23, follows AX Privilege Culinary Director Victor Borg, also Executive Chef of Michelin-starred Under Grain, and Malta Tourism Authority’s Francesca Vincenti. Embarking on a journey to explore the archipelago’s food scene, Chef Victor and Francesca talk to locals and experts to uncover the best street food and hidden culinary gems around Malta. The digital cookbook provides an opportunity for viewers to try their hand at making some global dishes including a Maltese favorite, Pastizzi, a flaky pastry style dish.
USTOA President and CEO, Terry Dale, emphasized “Cuisine can reflect the spirit and legacy of a place. These experiences, be it a dish passed down through generations or a bold new take on a local favorite, bring travelers closer to the heart of a destination.”
Michelle Buttigieg, Representative North America, Malta Tourism Authority, shared how “Malta has fast become known as one of the Mediterranean’s gastronomic hubs, and it’s exciting to see it featured in Global Kitchen.” She congratulated USTOA on this creative initiative adding “This series highlights how local cuisine tells a story of heritage and culture. Experiencing a destination’s culinary scene is one of the elements that creates immersive, authentic travel.”
