The month of March in Belize is celebrated annually as National Women’s Month – as a result, the Special Envoy Office helped organize the 20,000 Strong National Women’s Commission Empowerment Rally on Thursday, March 6, 2014.

The aim of this first-of-its-kind event served as a purpose to demonstrate the power, influence and significance of women by showing the Belizean society a day without women.

Women countrywide converged at The Memorial Park for a mile walk to Marion Jones Stadium. The walk culminated in a rally, with a few key women speakers. The ladies at Radisson Fort George Hotel & Marina took part in support of the historic event. Those that were not able to attend showed support by wearing their 20,000 strong t-shirts to work.
