A journey to Myanmar (formerly Burma) is a trip back in time. Myanmar is the country with authentic Buddhist religion, culture and traditions, friendliest people and beautiful temples, monasteries and nature.

The trip begins from the garden city of Yangon which is the combination of bygone colonial era and the modern bustling streets and takes you through the vast plains of Bagan dotted with more than 2000 ancient temples. Bagan is the ancient capital and during its heydays between 11th to 13th century, there were more than 10 thousand temples. Take a horse carriage and explore the ancient temples with rich murals and arts, while also taking an excursion to an extinct volcanic site of Mount Popa-the abode of the animistic spirits and Salay, an important Buddhist center with many active monasteries.

A brief flight whisks travelers away to Mandalay – the second capital of Myanmar. Visit the local markets, watch the monks accepting alms and appreciate the golden Buddha images in the temples. Also visit the ancient capitals of Sagaing, Inwa and Amarapura and the laidback town of Mingun.

Now it’s time to fly to Heho in Shan State and visit the Pindaya Caves with 9,000 Buddha images. Experience the British colonial flairs in the hill resorts of Kalaw and take a short village hike here. The final destination of this trip is the Inle Lake where travelers cruise on boats to visit the villages with bamboo stilt houses in the islands and lakeshores and learn the vibrant lifestyle and culture on the waters.

On this trip, travelers will have plenty of opportunity to meet the ethnic people, experience the Buddhist monastic life, rituals in the temples and arts and craft workshops.
