The 35th staging of FITUR will be presenting the latest trends and technologies in tourism at a time when Spain is playing an increasing role as an outbound source of visitors to other countries around the world.

Spanish outbound tourism expenditure rose by some 15.4% during the first four months of 2014, to a level of 2.172 billion euros, a much greater increase than the 4.4% registered in domestic expenditure. This trend increases the attraction and opportunities for capturing tourists offered by the Trade Show for all countries taking part.

Spain and the United States maintain a close relationship in the sphere of tourism. Spanish citizens made 310,802 trips to the United States in 2013, with an average daily spend of 102 euros, and an expenditure per traveler of 1,432 euros. This last figure is much higher than the average of 686 euros spent by Spaniards when traveling abroad.

FITUR will once again be playing host to the global tourism industry, reasserting its position as the leading business platform for the tourism sector. The trade show, one of the largest anywhere in the world and the leading event for Latin American outbound and inbound markets, will provide an effective stage for global tourism industry business, allowing professionals to discover the keys to successfully meeting the challenge of innovation in tourism management.

FITUR 2015 will also be featuring major new additions like the FITUR HEALTH and FITUR SHOPPING sections, presenting tourism segments with huge capacity for growth and development in response to the demand for specialization and diversification driven by the tourist sector.

Among the regular sections at FITUR is FITURTECH, which will highlight the impact technology has on tourism, and there will be a special showroom dedicated to “tourism of the future”. FITURGREEN will, for its part, be addressing innovation and sustainability in the tourism sector to promote the competitiveness both of companies and of destinations.

FITUR takes place at Feria de Madrid January 28 through February 1, 2015.
