Hong Kong-based New World Hospitality, whose portfolio includes luxury Rosewood Hotels & Resorts, deluxe New World Hotels and neighbourhood lifestyle pentahotels, has announced that it is changing its name to Rosewood Hotel Group.

“As Rosewood is the group’s marquee brand, and the one whose properties are most widely represented geographically, we feel it is more appropriate for the company to adopt the Rosewood name,” says Sonia Cheng, the group’s chief executive officer.

Rosewood Hotel Group’s portfolio consists of 40 hotels in 14 countries that are operated and marketed as three independent brands. Rosewood Hotels & Resorts is the group’s premium brand comprising a collection of properties in the world’s most desired destinations. Rosewood is renowned for its dedication to creating one-of-a-kind ambiance and style, with industry-defining personalised service, guided by its A Sense of Place philosophy to celebrate and honour the culture, history and environment of each hotel’s location.

Today, the Rosewood collection encompasses 18 hotels and resorts in eight countries, including some of the most legendary properties in the world and the brand has embarked on ambitious expansion to expand its footprint in Asia and Europe, with Abu Dhabi, London and Beijing hotels opening this year. Rosewood is expected to more than double its current portfolio of hotels either opened or in the pipeline in the coming five years.

New World Hotels are deluxe properties favoured by business travellers and meeting planners with locations in Dalian, Shanghai, Wuhan, Ho Chi Minh City and Manila, with an affiliated hotel in Shunde. The hotels offer a full range of relevant amenities and services, including multiple restaurants, business services, extensive meeting facilities, recreational options and Residence Club executive floors. New World Hotels is targeted to more than double in size in the next five years, with hotels in Beijing and Guiyang scheduled to open this year.

Pentahotels is a design-led, neighbourhood lifestyle brand providing independent travellers with comfort and style in a contemporary environment. The brand is represented by 15 hotels in Europe and Asia, with a target of 80 pentahotels in operation globally by 2020. The pentalounge, a combined lobby, reception, bar and cafe — designed as a lively gathering place for hotel guests and local patrons alike — is a pentahotels hallmark. Pentahotel Hong Kong, Kowloon will open this summer along with an additional 11 pentahotels in Europe, in the UK (five), Belgium (five) and Czech Republic (one).
