The Africa Travel Association (ATA) will hold its 39th Annual World Congress in Uganda from November 11-16, 2014.
Known as the “Pearl of Africa,” Uganda is a country with the best of everything the continent of Africa has to offer tourists, with an abundance of natural and cultural assets, strong eco-tourism products, including more than half of the world’s mountain gorilla population, and an emphasis on community, rural and adventure tourism.
For the last 39 years, the ATA Congress has offered a unique networking, learning and business building platform for the most diverse group of buyers and sellers of tourism to Destination Africa. The 2014 program will present a unique line-up of educational and professional development seminars for tourism leaders and professionals specializing in Africa.
Through inspirational keynotes and spotlights, experts will explore a range of the latest industry topics, including growth markets such as faith, student, food and community-based travel, eco-tourism, product development, social media, and the latest travel trends in Africa. A range of networking events, including receptions and gala dinners, will also be held during the five-day event. Delegates will also have the opportunity to explore Uganda’s newest attractions and products in the field during Host Country Day(s).
Expected congress delegates include African tourism ministers, industry professionals representing tourism boards, travel agencies and tour operators, conference and incentive operators, ground operators, airlines, and hotels, as well as the travel trade media. Participants from the corporate, non profit and academic sectors are also expected to attend, alongside travel and hospitality students.
The international tourism meeting will be hosted by the Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquities under the auspices of Honorable Minister Maria Mutagamba. Uganda hosted ATA’s 8th Eco and Cultural Symposium in Kampala in 2004.
