Andrew Tilley, General Manager of Meliá Nassau Beach.

Meliá Hotels International has named Andrew Tilley as the General Manager of its newest property, Meliá Nassau Beach. A veteran of the hospitality industry, Tilley has more than 30 years of experience as an international hotelier, working exclusively with Meliá Hotels International since 2010.

“This is an exciting time to be a part of Meliá Nassau Beach as we prepare for the 2014 year-end transition to Meliá at Baha Mar as part of the larger Baha Mar Complex,” said Tilley. “I am thrilled to be bringing my years of experience within the industry to Meliá Nassau Beach, specifically my past experience leading property transition teams, and look forward to overseeing the refurbishments on-site that once completed, will meet Meliá’s demanding brand standards.”

A combined $18 million renovation of Meliá Nassau Beach will be completed by 2015, culminating in a renaming of the property as Meliá at Baha Mar. Highlights of the property’s refurbishment plan include four new restaurant concepts, updated pools and an enhanced lobby area. Meliá at Baha Mar is the first upscale all-inclusive resort announced as part of the $3.5 billion luxury leisure development, Baha Mar.

Most recently within Meliá Hotels International, Tilley acted as General Manager of the Gran Meliá Golf Resort Puerto Rico where he was nominated for the Worldwide Hospitality Awards Best General Manager in the Luxury/Upscale/Palaces category in 2012. Prior, Tilley led the transition team to convert the Marriott Renaissance Hotel in Atlanta to the first Meliá Hotel in the U.S. in 2010.

Previous to his time with MHI, Tilley held senior management positions with Hard Rock Hotels, both within their corporate office and at hotel level. Tilley’s specialization in spear-heading hotel transitions includes past acting as Task Force lead in the preparation of the 2004 Paramount Hotel take-over from Ian Schrager Hotels to Hard Rock and Investor Ownership.

Meliá Nassau Beach is located on a 1,000 foot stretch of white sand along Nassau’s Cable Beach.
