During 2013, Occidental Hotels & Resorts embarked on a renovation program and modernization of the facilities of its flagship Santo Domingo hotel.
The renovation was inspired by the rich history of the city, introduced modern colors and shades, as well as new furniture and upgrades in line with the illustrious hotel’s five star status for excellence in the Dominican Republic.
The new Lobby of the Occidental El Embajador has become a relaxing setting to enjoy cocktails and tapas at the Gastro & Wine Bar that offers a wine cellar with an extensive selection of wines and champagnes, along with traditional Spanish tapas and Caribbean fusion. Similarly the new lobby bar offers an area where guests can sample the best international cocktails and a wide selection of Dominican rum.
The Occidental El Embajador has 278 rooms and suites across various categories to meet the needs of discerning guests. Currently, 61 of the Superior Rooms have been completely renovated in a classical contemporary design.
The eighth floor of the hotel houses the most exclusive and private area of ??the hotel, the Royal Club. Royal Club features 22 rooms and five suites which have been remodeled with new contemporary decor and furnishings. The newly renovated Royal Club features an exclusive reception area, bar, restaurant and private meeting rooms, in addition to a terrace overlooking the hotel garden and the ocean.
Occidental El Embajador’s Garden Deck terrace, situated around a century old tree, is a unique space for weddings and events in the heart of Santo Domingo.
The hotel has also opened a gourmet market and expanded its parking space.
