Liz Tauck Walters, a Board Director at her family’s travel company and a granddaughter of company founder Arthur Tauck, Sr., will serve as godmother to the second of Tauck’s two new Inspiration Class riverboats launching in 2014.

The new ms Savor will be christened on June 21 in Bingen, Germany. Tauck’s first Inspiration Class ship, the ms Inspire, was christened in Basel, Switzerland in April.

“We’re thrilled to announce Liz as godmother to the ms Savor,” said Tauck CEO Dan Mahar. “Christening our newest riverboat will be just the latest of Liz’s many contributions to Tauck’s success over the years. As an undergrad at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire, Liz led tours of the campus for Tauck groups traveling on our New England itineraries. More recently, she’s helped lead the company by serving on our Board of Directors, while also helping guide Tauck’s award-winning philanthropy initiatives.”

The new ms Savor and ms Inspire together comprise Tauck’s new Inspiration Class ships. Both ships are 443 feet long and each has a capacity of just 130 guests, where other lines’ ships of the exact same length accommodate 46% more passengers (190 guests). With fewer guests, Tauck’s new ships (like their four existing Jewel Class vessels) offer a far less crowded, more relaxed and intimate ambiance.

Both of the new ships have twenty-two 300 square foot suites, and each suite is furnished with a pull-out couch, roomy walk-in closest with built-in drawers, spacious marble bath with his-and-her sinks, two French balconies with floor-to-ceiling windows, and brocade upholstery. Along with the suites, the newbuilds also have thirty-two 225 square foot cabins, plus an additional thirteen cabins ranging from 150 to 190 square feet.

In addition to launching its two new ships, Tauck has also launched four new river cruise itineraries this year, including its first on the River Seine in France; “Rendezvous on the Seine” and “Cruising the Seine, plus Versailles, Paris & London.”

The company will also be adding two additional cruises in 2015, including “Belle Epoch: London to Monte-Carlo.”
