Aeromexico has announced nonstop flights between Chicago O’Hare and Zacateca’s General Leobardo C. Ruiz International Airport. This flight is ideal for those who wish to visit friends and family in the state of Zacatecas and will serve those interested in exploring one of Mexico’s most beautiful colonial cities which was certified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Known as the city con rostro de cantera rosa y corazón de plata, or ‘with a pink stone face and a heart of silver,’ because of the natural, pink stone that make up many of the iconic, colonial buildings and the silver that spurred the city’s development and history, Zacatecas is an excellent destination to visit and get to know a little more about authentic Mexican culture and history.

Zacatecas offers a wide variety of activities to do including visiting La Quemada, or The Burning, a Mesoamerican ruin dating back to between 300 and 1,200 A.D. You can also take a ride on the Cable Railway that takes you from Cerro Del Grillo (Grasshopper Hill) to Cerro de la Bufa (Wind Hill) and the Eden Mine. This new route will operate on an Embraer 190 with 99 seats, 11 of which will be part of Clase Premier. Aeromexico continues to strengthen its presence on routes between Mexico and the United States, flying to Mexico from 15 major cities in North America.
