Hotel Palazzo Sasso is being renamed Palazzo Avino beginning January 2013.

Since opening the hotel in 1997, the Avino family has worked behind the scenes to transform the once-crumbling 12th-century “shell of a building” into an architectural masterpiece now home to a world-renowned hotel. The hotel also prides itself on its two-star Michelin restaurant, Rossellinis.

Palazzo Avino offers views of the Amalfi Coast and features 32 rooms and 11 suites. The hotel’s Infinito Suite comes with its own rooftop Jacuzzi while its wellness spa boasts the avant-garde technology of Carita’s anti-aging products.

Palazzo Avino is the only hotel in Ravello that boasts a beach club, which opened in 2009 in the small town of Marmorata.

“The idea of having our family name on the hotel is actually very special for me and my sisters, Attilia and Mariavittoria,” said managing director Mariella Avino. “We have no men in the family besides my father, so our name will eventually disappear.”

“But with ‘Palazzo Avino’ the name will always remain. Our grandfather is no longer with us, but now his name is here forever. I know this would have made him very happy.”
