Boeing 787-8 in Xiamen Airlines livery

Air Promotions Group, the U.S. representative for China’s Xiamen Airline, has confirmed that Xiamen Air finalized an order for six Boeing 787-8 Dreamliners – Boeing’s high-tech, fuel-efficient jetliners to expand its long-haul international service. The order is worth $1.3 billion at list prices.

Xiamen is China’s only airline with an all-Boeing fleet.

“Adding 787s to our all-Boeing fleet is a strategic decision to facilitate our international expansion plans,” said Che Shanglun, President and Chief Executive Officer of Xiamen Airlines. “The range and efficiency of the 787 makes it an ideal fit in our new, non-stop international routes”.

Based in the city of Xiamen on the south-east China coast in Fujian Province, the airline currently serves south-east and north-east Asia.

In conjunction with the 787s being delivered at the beginning of next year, Xiamen Airlines will launch new long-haul routes from Fujian to Europe, North America and Australia. Xiamen Airlines currently operates a fleet of 97 airplanes, including 17 737-700s, 74 737-800s and six 757-200s.
