Tourism Fiji North America hosted its first-ever virtual Fijian Tourism Expo (FTE) on August 3 to share key updates and discuss reopening plans with the United States and Canada markets. Traditionally, the Fijian Tourism Expo is an annual event that takes place in Fiji, bringing together international buyers and sellers from across the globe, however, with travel restrictions still in place, Tourism Fiji successfully held the event online this year with virtual presentations and appointments.

The event brought together 29 wholesale partners and 32 Fiji stakeholders to virtually discuss and begin building tactical consumer packages in preparation for Fiji’s imminent reopening to North America.

“We have a plan and goal in mind – we want to be open by the end of 2021 and are currently hitting all our milestones to do so,” says Tourism Fiji CEO, Brent Hill. “It is crucial that Fiji and its partners are all aligned in this goal, so the Fijian Tourism Expo could not have occurred at a more perfect time to do just that.”

Event attendees received updates on how Tourism Fiji and Fiji Airways are preparing for the reopening of borders with their Care Fiji Commitment and Travel Ready programs, respectively. Attendees were also briefed on Tourism Fiji’s soon-to-launch consumer marketing campaign, which will go live next week.

While borders remain closed at present, Fiji’s vaccination levels continue to soar and the country has now administered at least one dose to 85% of its target population. The country is well on its way to achieving its goal of herd immunity by the end of October 2021.
